Laser engraving on acrylic

Surface engraving on acrylic for signage, awards, panel detailing and labels. The Thunder Nova 51 (130 W) handles fine detail and halftone work; the production laser scales to full sheets. Engrave as part of a cut job, or as a standalone process.

What we engrave

Engraving cuts a controlled depth into the acrylic surface — frosted white against clear, or contrasting white against coloured stock. The result is permanent, edge-finish-friendly, and reads cleanly under lighting.

  • Trade signage with engraved branding and text
  • Awards, plaques and presentation pieces
  • Equipment labels and control panel markings
  • Decorative detailing on faces and panels
  • Halftone engraving on suitable stock — review for photo work

How the job runs

Send a vector file with engraving artwork on a separate layer from cut lines. We confirm material, thickness and engraving depth, then quote. Cut and engrave in one pass where the file supports it — saves a setup and keeps registration tight.

Engraving and cut in one pass

Most acrylic jobs benefit from combining cut and engrave in one file. The laser registers both off the same setup, so artwork lines up exactly to the cut edge.

  • Cut perimeter and engraved artwork in one file
  • Engraving layer separate from cut layer — colour-coded by convention
  • Frosted-white engraving on clear acrylic — classic signage look
  • Coloured stock with contrasting white engraving for badges and awards

Common questions

Frequently asked.

What does engraved acrylic look like?
On clear stock, the engraved area becomes frosted-white. On coloured stock, the engraving is a lighter contrast against the surface colour. Depth is controllable per job.
Can you engrave photographs on acrylic?
Halftone-grade engraving is possible on review. Photo quality depends on stock, original image resolution and contrast. Flag the source file and we'll confirm before quoting.
Will engraving show on the back of the panel?
Surface engraving only marks one face. Through-engraving or back-engraving on clear acrylic is also possible — flag which side you want the artwork on.
