ACM CNC routing — Gold Coast
Aluminium composite panel is the go-to for shopfront fascias, architectural cladding and sign blanks. We CNC rout ACM — never laser cut it. V-groove on request for clean folds and tray builds, with panels up to 3 m long on the Multicam.
What we cut on it
ACM routes clean: no thermal damage to the polyethylene core, no burnt skin coating, no reflective-laser hazard. The edge comes off the router square and finishable — ready for paint, vinyl, or direct mount.
- Shopfront fascias and panel sets
- Architectural cladding panels
- Sign blanks and routed panels
- V-grooved trays for folded sign builds
- Cut-to-size cladding and signage panels
How the job runs
Send DXF or AI with cut and fold lines marked. We confirm finish colour, panel thickness (3, 4 or 6 mm) and V-groove specs if applicable, then quote with lead time. Approved files run on the Avid or Multicam depending on sheet size.
Why we never laser cut ACM
ACM is a sandwich panel — aluminium skin, polyethylene core, painted finish. Each of those reacts badly to laser energy.
- Aluminium skin reflects laser energy — risk to the operator and the machine
- Polyethylene core releases toxic fume when burned
- Surface coating scorches, ruining the panel finish
- Routing gives a clean edge with zero thermal damage
Common questions
Frequently asked.
- Can you V-groove ACM for sign blanks?
- Yes — V-grooving lets the panel fold cleanly along the routed line without breaking the skin. Send fold positions and angles with the file; we'll confirm groove depth against the panel thickness before cutting.
- What ACM thicknesses do you stock?
- Standard sign-grade ACM in 3, 4 and 6 mm. Brand and finish (matte, gloss, brushed, anodised-look) are confirmed per job against your spec.
- Is ACM the same as solid aluminium?
- No. ACM is a composite — two thin aluminium skins bonded to a polyethylene core. Solid aluminium plate is a different material that we don't cut. ACM routes well; solid metal doesn't suit our machines.
