What this is
Aluminium routing is where signwork crosses over into light fabrication. Single-skin aluminium plate gives you structural integrity that ACM can't, and the routed edge is clean enough to deliver to a fabricator or fit straight onto a job. Marine fit-out, custom brackets, signage letters in solid aluminium, machine-shop fixture plates — all aluminium territory.
The boundary between this page and ACM (the composite panel) is worth knowing. ACM is two thin aluminium skins bonded to a plastic core — light, flat, paintable, ideal for signage faces. Solid aluminium plate is heavier, structurally rigid, weldable, and the right choice when the part has to carry a load or hold a thread. Confirm with us if you're unsure which one your job needs.
We route aluminium for signwriters making sign-can backers, fabricators making brackets and mounting plates, marine customers making cleat backers and fit-out detail, and trade shops making one-off custom parts. Tooling, feeds, and pass count depend on grade and thickness — we confirm against your file. Send the alloy grade if you know it (5005, 5083, 6061 are common); if you don't, send the supplier or the photo of the label.
All aluminium work routes with coolant where required and a follow-up deburr; both factored into the quote. For threaded mount holes, see the Tapping add-on.
