What this is
Powerpoints, switches, data outlets and service penetrations all need a precisely-sized opening in the panel they fit into. Get the cutout slightly wrong and the cover plate doesn't sit flush, or the fitting doesn't lock in. Get it slightly right and the install goes in minutes. We cut these to the Australian electrical standards on the CNC, in-line with the panel cut, so by the time you receive the part the openings are ready.
The most common request is the standard single GPO (general-purpose outlet) cutout in cabinet backs, counter splashbacks, sign-can plinths and service-bay panels. We also cut double GPOs, switch plates, data and HDMI outlet cutouts, and the larger service openings used for power management modules and conference-room AV plates. For non-standard or imported fittings, send the spec sheet or the dimensions and we'll cut to that.
For your file, mark cutout openings on a separate layer labelled CUTOUT-TYPE (e.g. CUTOUT-GPO-SINGLE, CUTOUT-DATA-RJ45, CUTOUT-AV-PLATE). One rectangle or shape per cutout at the centre point coordinate. If you've got a measured-from-existing dimension, just send that as a sketch — we work from sketches all the time.
Note: we cut the panel; we don't do the electrical install. The cutout is sized so a licensed electrician can install the fitting on site. CutPro doesn't hold an electrical licence and won't certify anything beyond the panel work.

FAQ
- Do you install the powerpoint as well as cut the hole?
- No — we cut the panel only. The cutout is sized so a licensed electrician can install the fitting on site. CutPro doesn't hold an electrical licence.
- What if my fitting is imported or non-standard?
- Send the fitting's spec sheet or measure the cover-plate cutout dimensions and send those. We cut to whatever spec you supply — no need to be a standard Australian fitting if you give us the numbers.
- What file types can I send?
- DXF is the cleanest — that's a single-line vector format the cutter reads directly. AI, SVG, PDF, EPS and DWG all work too. If you've only got a JPG or a sketch on paper, send it anyway and we'll tidy it for you (small file-prep charge applies).
- How should I prepare a DXF?
- Outlines only, no fills. One closed path per cut. Different operations (cut, engrave, drill) on different layers so we know what gets which tool. Convert text to outlines before exporting so we don't have to chase the same font. If anything's ambiguous, write it in the file name or add a note in the quote request.
- How quick is a quote?
- Most quote requests come back within 1 business day, Mon-Fri. Simple trade jobs are usually faster during business hours. Complex jobs, supplied-material jobs or anything unusual may take longer — we'll tell you up front if so.
