File vectorisation — art-to-vector for cutting
Bitmap-to-vector conversion for files that aren't yet cut-ready. If your artwork is a JPG, PNG, scan or hand-sketch, we redraw it as a vector file the cutters can run from — clean paths, scaled to your finished size, ready to cut.
What we vectorise
Anything that isn't already a clean vector. Most cutting jobs need DXF, AI, SVG, PDF, EPS or DWG; bitmaps, photos and sketches all need conversion first.
- Logo bitmaps — JPG, PNG, GIF to vector
- Scanned line art and original sketches
- Photos converted to silhouette or contour vectors
- Pixel-art and raster signage to cut-ready paths
- Live-font text converted to outlines
How the job runs
Send the original file plus the target finished size and material (so we can advise on minimum stroke widths and detail thresholds). We confirm complexity and quote vectorisation as a standalone job, or bundle it with the cutting cost when the cut follows immediately.
When vectorisation is reviewed before quoting
Some source files need a conversation before they can be quoted.
- Photo-grade artwork — outcome depends on the source detail
- Hand sketches — interpretation may be needed
- Very small or very intricate artwork — minimum stroke width matters
- Files where the artist or copyright holder needs confirmation
Common questions
Frequently asked.
- Can you vectorise a photo?
- A photo isn't directly cut-ready — vectorisation reduces it to outlines, silhouettes or simplified contours. Outcome depends on the source. Send the file and the target use; we'll advise what's achievable.
- Do you need the original artwork or just a copy?
- Send the highest-resolution copy you have. Higher resolution means more detail preserved in the vector trace. Scans should be at least 300 dpi at finished size.
- Will the vectorised file work for cutting?
- We vectorise to the spec the cutter needs — paths closed, minimum stroke widths respected for the chosen material, scaling correct for the finished size. The result is ready to cut on our machines or yours.
